Working
Principle:
A body with conical seat, a nut & a ferrule when assembled
on a tube forms a joint. On progressively tightening the
nut on the body, the
ferrule bites into the outer surface of the tube, thereby
ensuring leak-proof joint at high operating pressures.
Classifications: HF Flareless Bite Type Fitting are available
from 6mm OD of tube to 42mm OD of tube in low pressure
series i.e. 'L' and 6mm OD to tube to 38mm OD of tube
in high pressure series i.e. 'S'. These are also available
for use with Nominal Bore of tube from 1/8" to 1-1/2"
and OD of tube from 3/16" to 2".
Design and Construction:
HF Flareless Bite Type Fittings consist of three
components which are manufactured to produce a strong
and leak-proof joint on proper assembly. The three components
are as follows:
1. Body: HF fitting bodies are available
in many configurations. The straight products are made
from cold drawn bars. The shaped products such as Tees,
Elbows etc. are mostly hot forged. They are further machined
to size as per specifications.
2. Ferrule: HF fittings are precision
machined & heat treated to ensure proper biting and
vibration dampening in the assembly.
3. Nut: HF nuts are either cold formed,
hot formed or machined to size from cold drawn material.
Specifications: HF fittings confirm to IS:8805-1978
